The aim of the European Master in Renewable Energy (EMRE) is to train post-graduate Bachelor students to fill the gap between the growing industry demand for specialised renewable energy expertise and the skills available in the job market.

The European Master in Renewable Energy consists of 3 semesters which guarantees students to spend time in at least two different EU countries and make contact with a wide range of European universities and companies involved in the renewable energy sector. Students will acquire knowledge of key renewable energy technologies (wind, solar, biomass, distribution and storage) but also of socio-economic issues, communicative and research skills.

EUREC Agency in Brussels together with leading European Universities offers this MSc programme. Hanze University of Applied Science was selected by EUREC, because of its good facilities and research in the field of renewable energy. Furthermore Hanze UAS is situated in a true energy region in the north of the Netherlands with a good national and international network.

Carly
Groningen is a nice and welcoming city that is a perfect size and atmosphere for students. I found it easy to settle into Groningen and we were well introduced to Hanze, which made it easy to become acquainted with the facilities. There are many nice areas to study at Hanze and in Groningen. The city has many nice cafes, markets, bars, restaurants and parks. There are bicycle lanes throughout the city, making everything accessible by bike. I enjoyed my semester in Groningen and will be back!

In a very short time the master offers all relevant information an engineer has to know for entering into the sector of renewable energy. The broad topics addressed from technical to economics and the various environnment in which I studied allowed me to connect and learn from very different people and made my 3 semester a success.

The truth may be inconvenient or even grim, but the future of this planet and its inhabitants does not necessarily have to be that way.

Until we have the technology to generate truly 'free' energy, renewable energy is the best available solution for the world's energy problem. The master offers not only the opportunity to learn from academic and technical experts in the field, but also the technical experience of writing a master's thesis based on work performed during an internship in a renewable energy company or research center...
