South and Southeast Asian Studies

As a student of South and Southeast Asian Studies, you can expect a full working week of about 40 hours. You will spend an average of 14 hours in-class, for example lectures or tutorials, and the rest of the time on independent study. You attend lectures focused upon a particular topic; the lectures are complemented by tutorials in which the material is discussed in greater depth and with more student input, for example in solo or group presentations.

Upon graduating, you’ll be a critical thinker who is ready for the job market. You will not only have a wealth of course specific knowledge, but you will also have developed research, creative, intercultural and communication skills.

Your degree in South and Southeast Asian Studies makes you an attractive candidate for a variety of potential employers. This is due to your knowledge of a large area and the academic skills you will have acquired. You could, for instance, work as a researcher, consultant, curator or P&O staff member.
