Are you fascinated by the German language and culture? Would you like to share this enthusiasm with others? Then this degree is the right choice for you.

This two-year programme guides you to become a fully qualified teacher in German language and culture.

In the didactic modules of the first year, you will be introduced to all aspects of being a teacher. You will be brought up to speed with the latest innovations in education and the changing role of the teacher. During an extensive internship at a secondary school, you will teach a series of classes, of which several independently.

In addition, you will do courses in Linguistics, Literature and Culture.

In the second year, you will have a part time position at a secondary school. One day per week will be spent on lectures, tutorials and team projects.

When you finish this two-year programme, you will not only obtain a Master's degree in Literature or Linguistics, but also a certificate that shows that you are a fully qualified teacher in the German language.

You can do this degree as a full time or a part time student. 

NB. (Near) Native level of Dutch is highly recommended.

In addition to the range of course units provided by this teacher-training programme itself, students can also follow Masterlanguage courses. Masterlanguage is a national programme that offers courses in a variety of languages, including German.

The courses are taught in the target language and are jointly organized by lecturers from Radboud University, the University of Groningen, Leiden University, Utrecht University, the University of Amsterdam and VU University Amsterdam.
