Philosophy, Politics and Economics

The teaching in PPE courses is divided equally between lectures and seminars. This gives you the opportunity to obtain a deeper understanding of the course material in small groups. In the first year, you will take foundational courses in the three main disciplines. From your second year onwards, you choose two out of the three disciplines to deepen your knowledge. In year 3, you study abroad or do an internship, take your final courses and write your PPE Bachelor’s thesis.

PPE graduates make excellent opinion leaders and decision makers due to the critical-thinking and problem-solving skills they've acquired, as well as the multi-disciplinary nature of the programme itself. Whatever you choose to do, you are sure to be highly employable. The majority of PPE graduates continue to do a Master’s programme. A Master's degree in your chosen track or specialisation is a logical next step, although there are also related subjects that would make a good fit - either at VU Amsterdam, elsewhere in the Netherlands or abroad. You can choose a Master’s programme in, amongst others, one of the following domains:
