The ever-increasing demand for processing power, sensing capabilities and miniaturisation makes microelectronics the most innovative field of all.

For example:
* Chipmakers are pushed to develop new and reliable processes that allow the integration of hundreds of millions (or even billons) of transistors onto a single microchip.
* Analogue designers are challenged to build accurate circuits from clearly non-ideal transistors.
* Digital designers face problems with regard to the design, layout and testing of highly complex circuits.
* System designers must meet the requirements of application environments that are often multidisciplinary.

I will be graduating soon with a not-so-easy but definitely a unique and rewarding experience with TU Delft

Be it engineering, IT or research, the properly structured and constantly updated academic curriculum combined with a diverse research background at TU Delft are all set to put u probably at the peak of your career.

I am a master student in Electrical Engineering with a research interest in electro-mechanics and Nanoelectronics devices, which deals with the design, fabrication and characterization of electronic circuits/systems at micro or nano scale and hence chose Microelectronics as my specialization track...
With time, this accumulates to gives you the confidence, knowledge and experience necessary to continue researching or enveloping yourself into a research area you might like. Apart from the motivating academic ambience, the faculty gives you 9-12 months for a thesis project, which can be chosen from a plethora of research opportunities available from both the faculty and industries. My research experience itself so far has been supported by 3 groups – Delft Institute for Microsystems and Nanoelectronics (DIMES), Kavli Institute of Nanoscience and NXP semiconductors. I will be graduating soon with a not-so-easy but definitely a unique and rewarding experience with TU Delft. On other note, the atmosphere is very international. Even if you want to, you cannot be in labs/classes all the time and miss all the fun around.

Keep track of your grades!!! TU Delft is an internationally recognized university and it directly reflects how good an engineer you are.

I think the best part about this track is the fact that students are encouraged to pursue a research direction from the beginning of the program; the courses they choose have to be aligned with the topic of the thesis project they will eventually choose,

I am a recent graduate of the Microelectronics track at TU Delft. When deciding to attend TU Delft, I hoped to develop my professional skills in all areas of circuit design and to learn about the most advanced technologies available in the industry today. This wish has been certainly fulfilled, as the curriculum at TU Delft is up-to-date with the recent developments in the field and provides students with several ways to deepen their knowledge of electronics...
The thesis was a great opportunity for me to experience the semiconductor industry first-hand and to better understand the business world I was entering upon graduation. Owing to the length of the project, I was exposed to multiple parts of the design flow and this allowed me to better identify my preferences, as well as the points where I needed to improve.

The fact that upon graduation I would have a year of work experience under my belt is just an added benefit. After being exposed to various disciplines within the field of Microelectronics, I believe a job in analog/mixed-signal circuit design would make me the happiest and allow me to use all the knowledge I have gained at TU Delft.

What I really like about the program is the coursework that is a perfect blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure.

Hey, I'm Shubham, I did my bachelor's in Mechatronics engineering from India. During the bachelor studies, I developed an interest in microelectronic devices especially in MEMS technologies.

I chose to pursue a masters at the TU Delft in Microelectronics because of its reputation and the excellent facilities that are provided by EEMCS faculty. Specifically the Else Kooi laboratory which is a state of the art micro-manufacturing laboratory.

What I really like about the program is the coursework that is a perfect blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure...
Moreover, you get to design your own coursework from a wide set of specializations available within the department of microelectronics such as Biomedical electronics, Microsystem and technology, Analog, Digital and RF circuit designing. Furthermore, the specialization offers numerous project which is both job as well as Ph.D. oriented. Hence, prospective students can choose their master's project in accordance with their goals.

I'm really enjoying my master at TU Delft as it is full of challenges and provides an overall growth as an engineer. I would recommend microelectronics program to all the prospective students who are intrigued by the electronic aspect of engineering.

The courses here are quite challenging and require me to apply my knowledge and learning in practical applications.

I completed my Bachelors in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from IIIT Bhubaneswar, India. I was interested in learning ways to implement electronics in medical applications. Hence I chose to do an MSc in Electrical Engineering – Microelectronics track at TU Delft. The Bioelectronics department here deals with the topics that I am interested in.

The best part of the MSc program is that I can choose the courses that I want and thus I have total control over my own coursework. I can choose interesting courses from other departments and even other faculties...
That gives me a better idea of how things work in the real world.
Many of the courses are based on team-based projects which help me learn how to coordinate with my peers and work together towards a common goal as a team.
The departments have good connections with the industry and other research organizations. Hence there is no dearth of good and interesting projects to work on.

Another aspect I love about studying in the Netherlands is that I have the opportunity to travel around Europe easily. Delft itself is a beautiful little student town between Rotterdam and The Hague. So I have ample places to explore and enjoy myself while growing my career.

The field of MSI&R is interesting, because of its economic and social importance and the scientific challenges that it presents

I am a professor of Micro/nanoelectronics, System Integration and Reliability (MSI&R). My main research interests include heterogeneous, multi-level and multi-functional micro/nanoelectronics, system integration and reliability.

The field of MSI&R is interesting, because of its economic and social importance and the scientific challenges that it presents...
Taking MSI&R as our core value tree, our multi-level students work in various branches, tailored to their personal interests.

Some work with novel 3D-interconnecting technology (e.g. nano-Cu and TxV interconnections), whilst others work with the wafer-level integration of LED devices with sensors and electronics, and yet others are involved with the reliability of components and systems. In addition to our own world-class research infrastructure (e.g. DIMES clean rooms), we have direct access to the top-ranking infrastructure of the Chinese State Key Lab and the TU Delft-Beijing Research Centre.

We actively participate in relevant EU-funded research programmes, as well as in Dutch and Chinese national R&D programmes. Our students benefit from our excellent research facilities, strong international networks and close cooperation with the leading industries and research institutions around the world.

Our objectives are to provide and excellent developmental platform for highly talented students and to develop future leaders in the area of R&D. By joining us, you will learn as much as you can – as quickly as possible – whilst enjoying your life, together with an enthusiastic, ambitious, committed and pleasant team!

In my lab I work with deep-submicron integrated circuits designed to operate with gigahertz signals and discriminating tiny time differences of the order of picoseconds

I am professor of Microelectronics and the head of the VLSI Design Laboratory. In my lab I work with deep-submicron integrated circuits designed to operate with gigahertz signals and discriminating tiny time differences of the order of picoseconds.

We use parallelism at a massive scale, with hundreds of thousands of processing cells and pixels all operating simultaneously on a single silicon chip...
Our Master and PhD students can find interesting jobs in multi-disciplinary environments, both in industry and academia, excelling in science and engineering, but they can also start their own enterprise as I did with Canesta at the dawn of the 3D camera revolution.

Our Microelectronics students are at the core of an on-going technological revolution that touches our society at several levels, and they have a unique opportunity to innovate while learning, to be at the forefront of technology while understanding the needs of our society and concentrating the potential of Microelectronics to its best possible uses.
