Study the complex interplay between tourism, culture and society, in an era of mobility and globalisation.
The tourism sector has grown into one of the most important industries in today's world economy. The field has become more and more diverse, as a result of globalization and digitization. This calls for new professionals in culture and tourism, who possess the knowledge and skills to anticipate and understand the global dynamics between societies, cultures, media and tourism.
In this programme, you will study tourism from many perspectives, such as sociology, cultural economics, media studies and cultural studies. What motivates people to travel to destinations they know from films or novels? How can we disclose cultural heritage sites to the public in an environmentally friendly way? And which challenges and opportunities do tourist practices pose for indigenous communities?
