						The Master's specialisation in Financial Economics primarily looks at financial markets, their behaviour, their regulation, and monetary policies. In this specialization we take a bird's eye view and investigate global financial markets as a whole, but we also analyse the different classes of market participants. There are many topics that will be studied including bubbles and crashes in financial markets, exchange rate policies between countries and how they affect economic growth
The focus is less on theoretical modelling and more on the application of these concepts in the real world. The programme includes recent developments in behavioural finance and courses on institutional effects and cultural biases. This unique focus equips students not only with traditional approaches in finance, but also with a sound understanding of human behaviour in financial markets.

Graduates are well equipped for careers in banking or investment, consulting in financial or finance-related sectors or supra-national institutions.

The Master's in Financial Economics is a specialisation of the Master's programme in Economics.

Waarom aan de Radboud University Nijmegen?

Radboud University offers 'Economics Plus'. Traditional economic models and business approaches are expanded with relevant knowledge from related disciplines such as psychology, teaching more in-depth knowledge that can be applied in today's globalised world.

We want to educate a new generation of finance professionals; ones who not only understand traditional financial economics, but can also work with modern institutional and behavioural insights. Financial markets are internationally integrated and often truly global. That is why at Radboud University, we also teach students how to be aware of the different institutional, cultural and psychological aspects in various financial markets. At Radboud University, we also know that psychological biases and emotions play a role in financial decisions. Therefore, a good understanding of financial economics includes knowledge about behavioural finance. Behavioural finance is a modern field in finance that uses psychology-based theories to explain financial decisions of individuals and how these can influence financial markets and create anomalies.

opbouwFinancial Economics is a specialisation of the one-year Master's programme in Economics, with a total course load of 60 EC. All courses are 6 EC and the Master's thesis is 18 EC. Internships are not a standard part of the curriculum, but we heartily support any student who wishes to do the extra work and undergo an internship.

After a general look at the most recent mainstream and heterodox economic theory, the Master's programme in Financial Economics totally immerses you in the modern financial world. In the second semester students will also work on their Master's thesis.

In order to get admission to this Master's you will need a completed academic Bachelor's degree in Economics or a related discipline.

Unless the requirements at http://www.ru.nl/opleidingen/master/financial-economics/admission-requirements-0/ are met, a language test is required:
A TOEFL score of ≥90, with subscores not lower than 18;
A IELTS score of ≥6.5, with subscores not lower than 6.0;
Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) with a mark of C or higher.
