The Master's specialisation in Strategic Human Resources Leadership focuses on new insights into personnel and organisation issues. This involves, among other things, using the human resources concept and resource-based staff and organisation management. In addition, topical themes are addressed such as competence management, training and development management employability and career management, and (cultural) diversity management. Therefore, this Master's specialisation is interesting for students who want to contribute to the development and implementation of personnel management in organisations.

Learning objectives relate to knowledge, application and reflection, including:
  • Providing a well-developed conceptual framework for strategy development as it relates to managing human resources
  • Providing a base for application through practical examples integrating HRM and Strategic management
  • Increasing the student's ability to critically reflect upon HRM

Waarom aan de Radboud University Nijmegen?

The SHRL programme stands out for its multidisciplinary approach and its focus on social processes in the management of human resources. Using a multiple stakeholder perspective, it takes into account the dynamic and complex (inter)national (institutional) contexts of nowadays' working life. The programme increases the student's ability to use, apply and reflect on theory and practice in order to deal with problems regarding the strategic role of HRM, in the profit, services and public sector.
  • Through the use of lots of real-life examples, you'll get a good understanding of how HRM works within different types of companies and organisations in both the public and private sector, and in a wide variety of industries and occupational fields.
  • You'll gain scientific insights to topics as varied as high-performance work systems, social network analyses, gender diversity, life-long learning, sustainable careers, expatriate management, bullying at the workplace and moral reasoning.
  • You will get small-scale lectures and group work in direct collaboration with national and international companies, in the private and public sector.
  • By taking part in the European HRM project, you will be able to put your acquired knowledge into practice, thus gaining compatible advantage on the labour market.

The objective of the Master's specialisation is for students
  • to gain knowledge regarding strategy development as it relates to managing human resources;
  • to be able to apply concepts integrating HRM and strategic management;
  • to be able to critically reflect upon HRM at the strategic level in an organisation.
