This programme examines the multilayered political, cultural and diplomatic connections between the two sides of the Atlantic Ocean, concentrating on processes of exchange between the US and Europe.

In an interdisciplinary fashion, the programme is grounded in American studies, cultural and political history and international relations. This will help you to understand the forces of globalisation, transnationalism and cultural transfer, as they are at work in current debates about security, mass media, climate change, migration, ethnic identity and populist politics.

Studieprogramma
opbouwThe programme contains several obligatory foundation courses. In addition, students take a compulsory Master's Thesis Colloquium and participate in Master's Thesis Workshops to help them structure their Master's Thesis research and support their writing process. There is a small elective space in the programme which enables students to place personal emphases or to engage in an internship.
