​​​Are you interested in applying engineering solutions and principles to health care and its related industries? Then Biomedical Engineering is the perfect programme for you. You will become an expert in improving health care diagnosis, monitoring and therapy. You will combine engineering design and problem-solving skills with biomedical sciences.

You will learn to design and develop applications that, literally, come in contact with people. These relate to surgical equipment, biomedical instrumentation and orthopedic devices (function restoration equipment). Biomedical engineers work at the R&D departments of Health Care Industry. Employment could also be at an academic hospital or in academic research.

Lectures take place at Hanze UAS, location Assen, which is approximately 20 minutes from Groningen by train. Students must be prepared to either find/accept accommodation in Assen, or be aware of additional costs of daily travel from Groningen to Assen.

Certificate students need to give proof of English proficiency: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550.

vooropleiding
The programme is offered in the final year of a (4-year) bachelor programme. Depending on the length of the bachelor programme at the home university, students need to have completed 120 to 180 ECTS credits (4 to 6 semesters) at undergraduate level in electrical or mechanical engineering, mechatronics or physics.
