NUTS

NUTS has been the study association of the English department in Groningen for over 40 years, and we are still going strong. We make studying English a lot of fun by organising all sorts of activities throughout the year.
Our diverse events include: drinks, high-teas, pub crawls, pub quizzes, book clubs, game nights and career events. As a NUTS-member, you benefit from a discount on your study books at Studystore (via our website) and free entrance to most of our events. Besides this, NUTS annually organizes a trip to the UK or Ireland.

The Master so far is very interesting and offers me exactly what knowledge I want. The professors are all specialized in different fields and they organize guest lectures from professors from all over the world.

Even though I had gotten a lot of information about this programme when choosing a Master’s degree, I was pleasantly surprised with what it offered me. This Master is so diverse. You can choose courses from different programmes, for example English Literature & Culture, Writing Editing and Mediating, and Applied Linguistics. This allows you to create your own path and to specialize more in that which you value and find interesting...

This is why I find the Master especially useful as it equips you with not only teaching skills but also more knowledge of your choosing that could shape you as a teacher.The Master so far is very interesting and offers me exactly what knowledge I want. The professors are all specialized in different fields and they organize guest lectures from professors from all over the world. Tom Roeper from the University of Massachussets (UMass), for instance, gave a very interesting class on, among other things, the logic of learnability. Because of this, the university provides you with the best possible education you could wish for.

Education has always captivated me. Instructing classes, interacting with students and attempting to convey communicative English has always been enjoyable for me.

I am currently in the second semester of the Educational Master of English programme. So far it has been very challenging, yet practical and diverse. With one day a week at college, and three days in class, every day is unique. Six hours of teaching does not sound like much, but with preparations, colleges and class assignments, it is a full-time program that provides a fun, yet satisfying challenge every week...

Every week we deal with subjects that I can apply directly in my classes.This Master ' s programme is great preparation for teaching. You construct lessons and reflect critically on yourself and others in detail, such as voice usage. If you are interested in education, I would recommend the RUG. They provide in-depth knowledge on many subjects of education.
