In Europe, millions of people are active in the equine sector. Think of breeding, sport, leisure or business activities at all different levels.
The equine industry is rapidly expanding throughout the world, and therefore, continues to professionalise as a sector. Western European countries, like the Netherlands, Germany and the UK, have become key players in this international field. These countries are highly recognised worldwide for the breeding and trading of sport horses as well as for their high level of sport performance and equine knowledge.
Equine Sports and Business strikes a balance between equine science and business knowledge. During this program you deal with topics such as nutrition, breeding, exercise physiology, training, rider physiology and psychology plus welfare and behaviour. In addition, subjects such as finance,
managerial economics, management, marketing and international trade are important elements of the programme. Besides knowledge you also learn important skills like networking, advising, planning and organising.

If you were always interested in how milk is produced and how the dairy industry works, then our specialisation in Dairy Management is the perfect fit for you.
Nowadays, modern dairy farming is expanding rapidly, together with improvements in milk production technologies and an increasing number of dairy farming regulations and directives. These constant developments represent a challenge for the dairy sector, as milk has to be produced at the lowest possible price while producers have to adhere to the latest rules, standards and welfare guidelines. This is where you come in and develop innovative solutions for the dairy sector as a well-trained young dairy professional. You can either take over a dairy cow farm or work as an advisor, sales professional or relations manager speaking the language of the modern farmer. With our comprehensive programme, you will be well prepared for a career in the dairy sector. The Netherlands is a perfect place to be trained as an enthusiastic dairy cattle expert, especially the Friesland region, the cradle of dairy farming with its Dairy Campus.
specialisatie Applied Animal Science
Applied animal scientists share a passion for animals mixed with a desire to understand them on a scientific level, and apply their knowledge to practice.
As a student choosing to specialise in Applied Animal Science, you focus on nutrition, immunology and diagnostics, disease control, animal welfare and many other topics related to animals. However, in order to become a successful animal scientist, one must also understand the basics of the business in which you will be working. For that reason, courses on marketing, management and business administration are given as well. You will also learn about applied research and scientific research methods and project management. The combination of knowledge you gain will allow you to set up projects for policy change and applied or scientific research, and to translate results into recommendations for everyday practice.
