The International Business School at Hanze UAS was the first of its kind to be based at a university of applied sciences in the Netherlands and has over 30 years of experience. The IB 4 year programme offers students a full year abroad, extra language education with 5 languages to choose from, and the opportunity to gain international work experience at two companies.

The International Business School has more than 100 partner schools worldwide. In this programme at Hanze students will encounter a truly international environment with an expert staff from over 20 different nationalities.

opbouwIn the first year, you learn about international business essentials and skills, including organizational management, finance, operations, HR and marketing.
In the second year, you will be doing a project in each of the four blocks.
In your third year, you spend a semester studying at one of our partner schools and a semester working in a company outside your home country.
The fourth year consists of a graduation minor and graduation project.

1e jaar The first year introduces you to international business essentials and business skills. You will explore how the changing business environment affects international business and how they respond to these changes. In addition, you delve into the internal dynamics of a business and try to understand how the business works from the perspective of organizational management, finance, operations, HR and marketing.

2e jaar In the second year, you will be doing a project in each of the four blocks. You will learn the ins and outs of the Scrum project management method. The projects will deal with Human Resources (Talent Management), Finance (Balanced Score Card), Operations & Logistics, and Marketing (Market Entry). This gives you the opportunity to find solutions for real companies. The language classes and Professional Skills Development courses you started with in your first year will continue in year 2.

3e jaar During the third year, you spend a full semester studying at one of our many partner universities around the world. The other semester is spent working in an internationally oriented company or organisation outside your home country, where you can apply what you have learnt during the first phase of your study.

4e jaar You begin your fourth and final year with a semester in which you take modules relating to your graduation minor. This enables you to gain an in-depth understanding of the specialisation you have chosen. Minor areas include marketing & sales, finance & accounting, management and strategy & business development. In your final semester you complete a graduation project in which you are regarded as a consultant for an external company.

afstudeerrichting International Marketing

The International Marketing minor includes a variety of topics relating to consumer behaviour, international marketing management and integrated marketing communication.

This graduation minor invites students to examine the problems that arise when marketing internationally and moving a company abroad. For example, during this minor students prepare international marketing plans and feasibility studies, on which they do presentations. Cultures, nationalities, the political environment and economics all have a distinct impact on decision-making within international business. We will explore various aspects of these specific cultures within the minor. As a result, students learn how to effectively and successfully deal with intercultural and international differences. Graduates with a graduation minor in International Marketing start work as (trainee) managers in international manufacturing or trading companies. Among the job opportunities available to graduates are positions in the fields of export management, international product management, international marketing management, sales management and international advertising. Some of our graduates are Marketing and Communication Managers, Sales Managers, Business Developers and Market Analysts.

afstudeerrichting International Management

The International Management minor is designed to empower students to successfully overcome standard and unusual challenges in a confident and professional manner.

By learning about trends and mega trends, alongside the dynamics of international economic institutions, students are able to assume international management responsibilities on a variety of hierarchical levels. This knowledge can then be applied within the complex global business environment, which is often characterised by conflicting stakeholder demands.

Special emphasis is placed on entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial leadership in multinationals, as well as SMEs operating internationally.

The minor focuses on the interdependencies between people's activities in international work settings, cross-cultural leadership and making effective leadership contributions within global business arenas.

afstudeerrichting International Finance and Accounting

The International Finance and Accounting minor focuses on the function of the controller and/or the treasurer within an international organisation.

You may take on the role of the key information provider, such as an advisor in a staff function. Alternatively, you may be the main information user, such as a Chief Financial Officer in a truly multicultural work situation. And crucially, being correct, as far as the numbers are concerned, is not the same as being correct in an environment with multiple cultural perceptions.

The role requires you to become a jack-of-all-trades, equally comfortable in addressing the broad internal finance needs (Corporate Finance) of your company, as well as the external reporting IFRS requirements (International Accounting). You understand the international financial world, as expressed in the eternal movements of currency exchange rates and international interest rate risks and opportunities (International Financial Management).

Above all, as a controller, you know how to run an international business organisation and how to 'keep your cool' in a hectic and competitive world. You and your multicultural team of colleagues will experience this first-hand during an integrated business simulation game that concentrates on your planning and control skills (Planning and Control).

afstudeerrichting International Strategy and Business Development

The International Strategy and Business Development graduation minor sets students on the path to become successful young professionals, within an international environment.

The experience gained can be applied in SMEs and large multinational organisations or by self-employed entrepreneurs. The minor utilises important practical case studies, looking at business activities and developments within the EU economy and its interaction in the global economic arena.

The diverse, practical and bilingual study programme Internationale Betriebswirtschaft is part of the International Business School, and guarantees you are surrounded with an international atmosphere.

During this four-year Bachelor programme, students will deal with complex economic issues, both in English and German, while developing intercultural awareness. The programme teaches ambitious students valuable skills and competences for a successful start in the ever-changing international business world. To broaden your international horizon and to deepen your cultural awareness you will learn a foreign language. You can choose from Spanish, French, German (only for non-German), Dutch (only for non-Dutch) or Mandarin Chinese.

The International Business (IB) programme prepares you to become an international business professional who is capable of helping internationally operating businesses achieve their goals.

The IB 3 year programme is designed for students with a higher secondary school education (Dutch vwo, International Baccalaureate or international equivalent). Besides learning about key business functions such as Marketing, Finance, Operations and HR, you will also work on your professional skills, including intercultural sensitivity, information management and communication skills. To deepen your cultural awareness and broaden your international horizon you will spend a full year abroad that includes a semester at a partner university and an international work placement. This programme is a fast track, thus requiring ambition and a strong commitment to self-study. By the end of the three-year programme, you will have achieved the same degree as students from the four-year track. From the second year onwards, you will follow the same programme as the four-year bachelor. The International Business programme provides the perfect study environment for a business bachelor's student who has strong, international ambitions!

honours-/excellence program IBS Honours Talent Programme

The honours programme identifies talented students within the IB bachelor's programmes and assists them in accelerating their growth so that they are ready for high-level jobs sooner.

Students in this programme will enjoy the advantage of innovative learning experiences that are designed to engage their participation, broaden their intellectual horizons, develop and sharpen their academic skills, and to explore personal development in depth. IB students who wish to join the Honours Talent Programme should apply at the end of the first year. Those who are selected will begin the programme in the second year and will follow it alongside the regular IB study periods. This 30 European Credit (ECTS) programme offers students with superior professional potential special opportunities and resources, including the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research on business issues.

Being part of this honours programme is not only a rewarding experience, it is an opportunity to dive deeper into the participant's post-IB future. IBS-U

The IBS-U is a non-profit student organisation, which was founded in 2007. The organisation provides recreation and entertainment opportunities for IBS students.
IBS-U has grown at a rapid pace and in 2009 was recognised as an official part of the university. With an annual membership of over 400 students, IBS-U is able to arrange a variety of social events that take place from September to June. Moreover, the IBS-U is responsible for the afternoon and evening programme during the Introduction Week for new students. This brings people together and helps new students settle in quickly.
