The Board of Admissions will judge the candidate's personal skills (e.g. awareness of responsibility, accuracy, communication skills, methodological approach when analyzing complex problems, and motivation) for qualification to the specialisation. Please note admission to this specialisation is only possible after admission to one of the research specialisations of Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The core of the programme is ‘research-based learning’ and developing a critical, inquisitive and self-reflective attitude and the skills to systematically analyse scientific issues. In the second year the students continue with the vocational specialisation Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences and Industrial Pharmacy and gain significant experience of the Dutch Quality Assurance framework through Quality Control and Assurance lecture series and a specialisation specific internship.
objectives
The specialisation Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences and Industrial Pharmacy consists of 60 EC in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences and 60 EC in Industrial Pharmacy.
In addition to general achievements, graduates of the MSc programme BPS with the specialisation Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences and Industrial Pharmacy have reached the following specific achievement levels:
a. Industrial pharmaceutical knowledge and understanding of prerequisites for production, quality and safety management, and batch release;
b. Experience with industrial pharmaceutical quality documentation systems;
c. Knowledge of industrial pharmaceutical regulatory affairs and ethical issues.

Na de studie
Beroepsperspectief / arbeidsmarkt
Students are trained for a research career in drug research and development, not for a career as a (public) pharmacist. Most graduates proceed to a PhD training at Leiden University or another university. Graduates from the LACDR are in great demand in the pharmaceutical industry and in other research institutes. An extensive worldwide network of research contacts allows students to obtain research experience abroad during their MSc or PhD studies.
Students with the specialisation Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences and Industrial Pharmacy are also prepared for a career in Quality Assurance and Quality Control in the biotechnological and pharmaceutical industry.
