The oceans are of enormous value for humans and nature. They provide food, coastal protection, opportunities for tourism, energy production, transport, climate mitigation and so on. How can we use marine resources and conserve and restore marine ecosystems at the same time?

The MSc Aquaculture and Marine Resource Management (MAM) is a two-year programme (120 ECTS). In the first year you will follow interdisciplinary courses, specialisation courses and electives. In the second year you will do your thesis and internship.

In the first year you will follow interdisciplinary courses, specialisation courses and electives. In the second year you will do your thesis and internship. Together with your study advisor you will design a tailor made study programme that fits your interests and ambitions.
The master has a variety of teaching methods like lectures, practicals, case work, group work, computer models, excursions and self study. You will be educated in small groups by passionate teachers and researchers.

Related to the integration of knowledge:
- Integrate knowledge relevant to the technological, physiological, ecological, economic and sociological challenges of sustainable aquatic organisms and marine resource use;
- Analyse systems dynamics and ethical considerations related to the utilisation of marine resources, and the conservation and restoration of marine ecosystems;
- Design strategies for the utilisation, conservation and restoration of marine resources and aquatic production systems including multiple stakeholder and disciplinary perspectives;
Related to research:
- Design and execute academic research that contributes knowledge to the sustainable use, conservation and restoration of marine resources and ecosystems;
Collaboration and other skills:
- Collaborate effectively with people from diverse social and natural science disciplines and cultural backgrounds across a range of institutional settings (e.g. science, public policy, civil society and private sector);
- Appraise the quality and credibility of information from public and scientific sources;
- Communicate the results of the project and research work clearly and concisely, to specialist and non-specialist audiences, both verbally and in writing;
- Design and plan one’s learning processes by continuously reflecting on personal knowledge, skills, attitudes and functioning, both individually and in discussions with others;
