The MFN programme starts with an introductory course to create a common foundation for all students in the programme and to focus on the multidisciplinary nature of the domain. Students proceed with courses related to one of the three specialisations: Policy and Society (A), Management (B) and Ecology (C). The thesis can be taken at four different Chair Groups, depending on the student’s specialisation.
objectives
The focus is on conservation, sustainable management and policy aspects of forests and nature. Students learn the best way to deal with climate change, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, ecotourism, timber production, hunting and animal reintroduction. Natural resource management can be applied at different scales, to diverse ecosystems and varying political and social contexts.
