The core of the programme is ‘research-based learning’ and developing a critical, inquisitive and self-reflective attitude and the skills to systematically analyse scientific issues. A major part of the programme involves active participation in ongoing research projects; facilitated by intensive coaching during an internship covering all aspects of the research cycle; being concluded with research thesis/ oral presentation. Throughout the programme students follow lecture series and seminars.

The specialisation Education consists of 60 EC in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences and 60 EC in Education. In addition to general achievements, graduates of the master programme BPS with the specialisation Education have reached the following specific achievement levels: All qualifications necessary for teaching all years of secondary education and technical and vocational training (for 12‒18 year-olds).
