Many issues are discussed in this track, always in line with recent trends and events, and preferably using an open, international and comparative perspective. Such topics include the emergence of weblogs and citizen journalism, increasing globalisation, agenda-setting and the framing of socially relevant issues by media, politicians, spin doctors and other stakeholders.

The track provides the basis for editorial, policy, advisory and research positions in the media sector, government, politics, civil-society organisations and the commercial world.
Graduates can be found working as:
- spokespersons
- information officers
- PR managers
- communication consultants for numerous organisations ranging from local municipalities to the European Union and from non-governmental organisations to ministries.
Other graduates started their own:
- communication consultancies
- publishing companies
- online service companies
Other graduates pursue a career as documentary makers and journalists, conduct (media) market research for opinion pollsters or join a company or ministry as management trainees.
Occasionally, our graduates take up PhD positions and academic research jobs in the field of political communication and journalism.
These jobs are situated both in Dutch and international business, political, academic and diplomatic environments. Non-Dutch students also often take up key positions in their country of origin after their studies in Amsterdam.

Beroepsperspectief / arbeidsmarkt
The career prospects for our alumni are good. A recent study (2017) shows that graduates who started looking for a job immediately after graduation have found a suitable job within two to three months (n=231).
