How can a company improve its supply chain, reduce its environmental footprint, and promote social sustainability? In what ways can managers leverage real-time data and analytics to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency in supply chain operations?
The MSc Supply Chain Management will prepare you to tackle these and other challenges effectively. The programme is unique because it provides a lot of room for making your own choices in what you would like to specialize in. We offer many elective courses where you can delve deep into the areas that ignite your curiosity and align with your ambitions. You can cover a wide range of supply chain topics, which gives you an advantage in your future career. In addition, you can focus on specific societal trends. Whether you are fascinated by renewable energy and innovation, healthcare logistics or data-driven processes, we have the right courses for you. You can also complete the Energy Transition and Climate Change or Healthy Society Focus Area, earning a supplement to your diploma.
In Groningen, we go the extra mile to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complex landscape of modern supply chain management with a strong focus on sustainability. For example, we teach you to understand, analyze, and develop strategies to cope with clean energy solutions and efficient transportation in designing and managing global supply chains.
You will have the opportunity to not only gain the relevant knowledge but to also put it into practice. Companies bring in real-life cases where you work on the design, integration and coordination of supply chains at multiple levels, bringing innovative and dynamic solutions to this fast-paced business environment. You learn from industry experts in the field by joining guest lectures, visiting companies and career events and taking the master internship (optional).

specialisatie Master Internship
Opportunity to gain work experience by doing an internship in the second semester of your study.
You will be rewarded 15 ECTS on top of your programme. Your thesis will be postponed to the third semester.
specialisatie Energy Transition and Climate Change Focus Area
Focus on the serious changes within the energy sector by dealing with issues such as how firms adapt to renewable energy, how the higher taxes are managed during this transition and how to deal with the weather dependent production of energy systems. Gain the knowledge and skills to shape a sustainable future in this evolving energy sector.
specialisatie Healthy Society Focus Area
Focus on tackling problems that impact healthcare providers and their societal partners in their day-to-day work. Issues such as scarce human resources combined with a higher, more complex demand for care, and more demanding citizens require solutions, which you will think about and design.
specialisatie Double degree master Service and Supply Chain Management
Study service and supply chain management in Porto and Groningen to build a successful career in service-oriented companies.
In this Double-Degree Master’s programme, you follow MSc Management with a specialization in Service Management at the Católica Porto Business School in your first year. You will learn about the service management and strategies critical for modern business operations. You take multidisciplinary courses such as Operational Excellence, Marketing in the Digital Age, Digital Services and Technologies, Project Management, and Business Analytics.
In the second year, you will advance your expertise in MSc Supply Chain Management here at the University of Groningen where you can specialize in the supply chain discipline or broaden your knowledge of societal challenges, such as the energy transition, sustainable supply chains, and a healthy society.
You will learn to think critically and develop solutions that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve social and environmental outcomes in supply chains.
By the end of this double degree programme, you will graduate with two diplomas from highly ranked universities: MSc Management with a Specialization in Service Management from Católica Porto Business School (CPBS), Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and MSc Supply Chain Management from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Groningen.
